Fishing
From Port Blair, our anglers can access the spectacular fishing between the middle and Little Andaman Islands. These areas are up to 35km away and are difficult to access without a fast boat. Cinque, Passage, Sister, and Brother Islands and their surrounding reef systems and tides make them a fishing paradise.
Reason for the spectacular fishing in these waters
This is due to the rich and diverse ecosystem, which provides a huge amount of nutrients and a rich supply of baitfish, to keep the food chain going along with the fact that there is no commercial fishing along the reef system.
About Fishing
The Andaman Islands are the place where dreams are made. Crystal-clear water and an average year-round temperature of 30 degrees provide a perfect combination for some of the best extreme tropical fishing in the world. With 374 Islands, surrounded by reef systems, drop-offs, sea mounts, and deep blue water there are plenty of choices to target monster fish.
Target Species
The main target species include Giant Trevally, Dog Tooth Tuna, Marlin, Rusty JobFish, YellowFin Tuna, Amber Jack, Great Barracuda, Groupers, a SAILFish, and King Mackerel. These can be caught popping, jigging, or Trolling.
Recommended Equipment Gears
Popping
Recommended popping setups include PE10/12 popping rods paired with an 18000/20000 size reel, a 7’6” length rod for extreme fishing power, 100-120 lb braid as the main line.
Also, we need a 150lb leader tied, with an FG Knot, the 20 cm of which should be twisted and crimped, a 220lb terminal tackle, 100-200gm poppers, stick baits, Owner 4/0, and 5/0 ST-76 hooks or similar, but the barbs must be crushed.
The brighter lures do very well in the reefs, and natural colors work better in deeper water.
Jigging
Recommended popping setups include PE10/12 popping rods paired with an 18000/20000 size reel, a 7’6” length rod for extreme fishing power, 100-120 lb braid as the main line.
A 3-5 meter fluorocarbon leader has to be tied with an FG knot coupled with a 150lb terminal tackle, jigs in the 150-300 gram range, a 300lb Kevlar assist cord, and an Owner SJ-46 11/0 assist hook or a similar hook.
Adding a small muppet to the hook has been proven to be a very effective method. Not only will you get more hits, but it also protects the paint in the Jig from the Hook Slapping against it.
